AdaptEd Labs is an indie game studio blending immersive gameplay with thoughtful educational design. We believe games can teach without preaching — and that every puzzle, story, and system can invite discovery, not drill.
We create narrative-driven games that embed learning into the experience itself. Whether exploring logic in The Variable Valley or unraveling poetic puzzles in The Last Poem, we design worlds where mechanics and meaning go hand-in-hand.
Game-Based Learning, Not Gamification
We design full games, not reward loops on worksheets. Learning happens through meaningful play, not just points and badges.
Instructionally Embedded Design
Lessons are built into the gameplay mechanics, story arcs, and puzzles themselves. We don’t “add learning after”; we build with it from the start.
Narrative-Driven Engagement
We believe stories matter. Rich, emotionally resonant narratives help players care about the world and retain what they learn.
Respect for the Player
We design with intelligence and trust. No hand-holding, no condescension, just layered systems, meaningful discovery, and real challenge.
AdaptEd Labs was founded by Chris Morris, a game developer and educator with a passion for immersive storytelling and meaningful learning. After years in the classroom and the field, Chris set out to build games that could meet educational goals without compromising gameplay. That vision became a studio, and a movement.
We’re working on two flagship titles, The Variable Valley and The Last Poem, with plans to expand into science, history, and writing-based games. Our long-term vision includes school partnerships, licensing opportunities, and a growing team of artists, educators, and developers committed to crafting impactful experiences.
